Lombardo, Legislative Republicans oppose record $11.1 billion in education funding
Led by their so-called “Education Governor,” Nevada Republicans turned their backs on students and educators today and voted against a historic 26% increase in education funding. After supporting the education budget just days earlier, Legislative Republicans aren’t even hiding the fact that they’re putting politics over Nevadans.
“Joe Lombardo promised Nevadans he’d be the ‘education governor’ but apparently to him, that means opposing record levels of education funding and putting politics over students and teachers,” said Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Mallory Payne. “Lombardo and legislative Republicans have consistently failed to put Nevadans first but playing political games at the expense of public education is a new low. Our students, teachers and parents deserve an explanation.”
