#NVLeg Watch: Democrats Work to Make Communities Safer While Lombardo Ignores Crime Victims
While Democrats focused on public safety and lowering costs for families this week, Governor Lombardo was in the spotlight for repeatedly lying to Nevadans and disregarding crime victims. Coming from a governor who says he’s prioritizing public safety and transparency? Yikes. Keep reading for all the highlights!
Assembly Democrats are working to lower the cost of prescription drugs and cap the price of certain drugs, following the lead of President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act.
In the Senate, Democrats are prioritizing Nevadans’ safety by addressing the fentanyl epidemic and passing Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar’s bill to protect election workers as the MAGA GOP’s relentless assault on our democracy fuels violence toward election workers.
“In the Senate, lawmakers continued to vote on bills past 9 p.m., including Senate Bill 343, a bill sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro that would establish the crime and related penalties for low-level fentanyl trafficking.
“Lawmakers voted to unanimously to approve Senate Bill 406, which would make it a felony for any person to threaten election workers.”
Lombardo, who campaigned on the rising crime rates under his own purview (🤔), was called out for leaving victims of crime behind in his budget this week.
Then, Lombardo and his PAC were fact checked after lying (over and over again) about fentanyl possession in the state to score political points and to undermine the works Democrats’ are doing to curb the fentanyl epidemic.
With a month left to go, there’s a lot more to come. Stay tuned for all the updates!
